10 Ways to Create a Focal Point

Wow! your way to a wonderful space

When I am designing an entire home I have what I call my ‘WOW! Rule’. There must be at least three things about the design that make people say, ‘Wow!’ Creating a Wow! factor can be as simple as a bold wall colour, or as complex as a glass st aircase. Here are my tips and tricks on how to create your Wow!
Art adds an instant wow! factor on any wall
1. Paint  Paint is probably the simplest way to create a focal point in a room. An accent wall will draw one’s eye and create a definite statement. Try Benjamin Moore Dior Grey!

2.  Artwork  Art is a very personal thing but the right piece of art in the right location can totally change up the space
Mouldings are available in a variety of patterns
    3. Mouldings  Mouldings are quite simply the secret weapon of most designers. Applying mouldings on a flat wall takes a room from simple to unique.

            4. Throw Pillows   Make a statement with your throw pillows. Bold colours, designs and patterns     can really liven up a living room, family room, or bedroom. 5.  Area Rugs I consider area rugs to be artwork that you place on the floor. A stunning carpet can tie a whole room together as a focal point. 6.  Lighting The jewelry of the space draws people’s eyes with crystals, chrome and unique shapes. A chandelier can easily be the star.

            7.  Mirrors Another secret weapon for us designers are mirrors. When placed strategically and framed just right, a large-scale mirror can have a major impact. 8.  Fabrics Go wild with fabrics! Create bold, patterned drapery or upholster that occasional chair in hot pink to really draw the eye.
Wallpaper and lighting can go a long way
        9.  Wallpaper Wallpaper can do many things for a space, including create a wonderful accent wall. Adding a Wow! wallpaper will result in Wow! walls.
