Annual Heddington Halloween Display – Created by Barb Gordon and presented in partnership with The Eglinton Way BIA and residents of Heddington Avenue, Toronto

Halloween on Heddington!

Every year since 1997, Barb Gordon has let her inner artist out to create a Halloween display, including painted life-sized (7′ x 4′) posters of beloved pop icons. As of 2018, 32 of Barb’s posters will be mounted outside 28 homes on Heddington Avenue, Toronto for Halloween, along with 700 glittering handmade stars, pumpkins, and other display items. Barb’s artwork includes all of the crowd favourites: Spiderman, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Dory, The Walking Dead and last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy, to name a few.

A creeper, Gordon’s ghoulish green sea creature from Pirates of the Caribbean was displayed in 2012

New for the 2018 display is a portrait of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, along with three additional new paintings (Snoopy, Bugs Bunny and the Family Guy) due to so many new neighbours joining in the fun in 2018.

This annual event attracts hundreds of visitors and families from all over Toronto and this year, Heddington is preparing for over 1,000 trick or treaters. This event fundraises to support SickKids Foundation and to date, has raised over $12,000 for Sick Kids. Last year was a tremendous success because of the support received from the Heddington Community and Halloween visitors.

For a second year, the Eglinton Way BIA has partnered with Barb and the residents of Heddington Avenue to organise the event. The Eglinton Way and sponsors have donated toques, funds for candy, décor and permits taken out to block off the entire street for children’s safety during Halloween. Each business in The Eglinton Way hosts a SickKids donation box throughout the month of October.

On October 31, face-painting will be available so that trick-or-treaters (and their parents) can get ready for their night out. Donations to SickKids are appreciated.
