EcoFair at the Barns Inspires Sustainable Living | LOCAL EVENT – November 8, 2015 Artscape Wychwood Barns

The biggest little EcoFair in the city is back for its seventh year on Sunday November 8 at Artscape Wychwood Barns. The EcoFair will share and celebrate the achievements of the many individuals, organizations, and businesses in our community that are leading the way towards a more sustainable future. The main Barn will bustle with rows of enthusiastic exhibitors, hands-on workshops, and eco-friendly kids’ activities.

“Many people are worried about climate change and afraid for their children’s future but don’t know what to do. It’s scary. That’s why the EcoFair is so important and so inspiring” says Judy Vellend, who founded the EcoFair at the Barns in 2009.

Recent summer floods and winter ice storms have shown Torontonians how much harm climate change can do. We experienced its impact and the high cost of inaction here in our community and in our homes.

“Because of extreme weather events in Toronto this year, I find that more than ever, people want to take control and find out what they can do to turn things around, to achieve a lifestyle that is healthier, greener, and more environmentally-friendly” says Lee Adamson. Lee is volunteering for the fourth time to help organize the EcoFair. She finds that doing what she can in her own life, like using a clothesline and dusting off her bike, as well as working with others who are taking action for a more sustainable future, help to make her feel more hope and more optimism for the future.
