In the Closet

6 Simple, Effective Closet Tips

The closet is often a hiding place for junk, but a well-designed closet has the power to change your life. My closet is where I get ready in the morning; not a huge space, but that’s where I do my make-up and get dressed. I enjoy my time in there. Improving your closet as part of your home-organising goals will increase the value of your home while benefitting you in the long run. Here are some of my cool closet tips:

1. Switch Sliding Doors to Swinging Doors

Sliding doors are not only annoying when they constantly fall off their tracks, but they allow you to see only half your closet.

Hung up about your closet? Hanging clothes at the same height will look neat, tidy and uniform

2. Use The Same Hangars

Using the exact same hangers may seem silly, but by doing this, your clothing will be at a uniform height, which will make viewing them, and organising your closet, much easier.

3. Evaluate What You Have

If you are redesigning your closet, it’s the perfect time to get rid of any ancient clothing. When designing your closet, evaluate how much space you need for each storage type.

To save space, pack away last season’s clothes in suitcases

4. Maximise Out-of-Reach Areas

There will always be hard-to-reach areas in a closet. I recommend using these for suitcases, off-season clothing, keepsakes, and linens.

5. Don’t Forget Accessories

Make drawers and space for jewellery, watches, ties, socks, underwear, and belts. These items are often overlooked.

6. Consider Investing in a Closet Organiser

A good organiser can change your life. There are plenty out there who will help sort you, and your closet, out.
